Jess's Wedding

We finally did it!

Hello everyone, Jess here!

I am back from the most amazing 3 weeks of my life!

Me and my better half were legally married on 11th October at York Registry Office with both of our parents, we had a lovely few days in one of our favourite cities! I wore an Ivory suit with pops of pink with my shoes and flowers and my new husband wore a pink suit and we had the most lovely day! – The nerves were very real I will be honest!

Thursday 14th October was the day of our celebration at the beautiful Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey, we had another, very personal humanist ceremony which was perfect for the both of us! The whole day was incredible from start to finish, the fabulous Sam Gateley transformed our hair and kept everyone calm and organised on the morning. The super talented Emma from Ora Makeup did our makeup to perfection, I used to work with Emma at Charlotte Tilbury and always knew I couldn’t have anyone else for my wedding makeup! All of our hair and makeup lasted so well, through all of the dancing (and the tears of course)!

Our flowers were one of our favourite parts of our whole wedding, Sam and the girls at Wildfire absolutely smashed it for both days, Sam knows our style to a T and created the most incredible bouquets and displays, better than we could have ever imagined!

Wildfire combined the most beautiful tones of deep pinks, reds and burgundy, we opted for no greenery to keep it really modern. The girls at Wildfire styled the venue for us too, using lots of burgundy velvet, pink, black and burgundy pumpkins for one of our favourite times of the year October and Halloween. Paired with the most amazing backdrop featuring a neon light, adorned with the incredible flowers and velvet, it honestly all was a dream come true!

Our signs, table plans and table numbers were created by the fabulous Dawn and Matt over at MDLaserworks who are so talented and are amazing people! They made our visions come to life, keeping our signs chic and modern, using black and white with hints of gold set the pink tones of the flowers of perfectly! Anyone who knows me knows I love pink, (it’s no secret)! And the fabulous Kate of Kate Illustrate created the most beautiful pink tassled name cards, which along with the flowers brought my pink dreams to life!

Our photographers/videographers were the amazingly talented ‘The McHendry’s’, who we found on Instagram and loved from the minute we laid eyes on their work. I would recommend Lou and Ben to anyone, they were the most friendly, laid back yet professional, lovely pair we could have wished for, who made us feel so comfortable from the minute they arrived. They sent us a preview of our images the day after our wedding and we were honestly blown away with every single photo, more than we could have ever dreamed of! The ladies at Finch Bakery made our fabulous pink cake, I sent Rachel an inspiration photo I had seen of a cake a while ago and they did such an incredible job of creating their version of it for us! We opted for a chocolate fudge cake and lots of chocolate and chocolate orange brownies - the more chocolate the better! We also opted for pumpkin spice blondies (which were just divine)! The food at the barn is served feast style which we loved the idea of as we wanted to keep our wedding more relaxed. We opted for stone baked pizzas at night and it was a case of grabbing a slice as you’re hitting the dance floor, which was just fabulous! The Mini Big Band kept the dance floor going, who are a ‘big band’ jazz band and who were all incredible. They filled the barn with a mixture of classic jazz and modern covers and we all had the most amazing evening on the dance floor! My feet were not my friends at the end of the night by any means!

Our venue was an Autumnal wonderland and as a couple as it is one of our favourite times of the year, we wanted to fully embrace this, our night do consisted of toasting marshmallows around fire pits and lighting sparklers, an Autumn dream! Overall, we had the most fabulous day, filled with so much love, joy and magic. I want to do it all over again – it was honestly the best week of my life!
