When should I order my dress?
We recommend ordering your gown about six to eight months before the wedding as this allows comfortable time for fittings after the gown has arrived. However, things can be done on a shorter timescale and we will always do everything in our power to help you find a dream dress, even if you only have a few weeks until your wedding. Please ensure you allow six months to order your bridesmaid gowns as these can take as long as some of our wedding gowns to arrive.
Do I have to pay in full at the time of ordering?
No. The minimum deposit is 50% at the time of ordering but you can pay in full if you prefer. The gown must be fully paid for on or before the date you first put it on. This is usually at your prefit – when you try your dress on with your consultant and play with accessories!
When will my dress arrive?
When your gown is ordered we will write to you enclosing a copy of your paper work including an estimated arrival date for your gown.
Ideally, we would like your dress to arrive in store, three months prior to your wedding day. This allows plenty of time for your dress fittings and any alterations to take place. The time scale will vary from company to company and is also subject to unforeseen circumstances such as adverse weather and strikes!
When do I try my wedding gown on?
When your dress arrives in store it is thoroughly check by a member of our team, steamed and pressed.
We will then contact you within 24 hours to let you now of its arrival. An appointment will then be made, at a convenient time for yourself, to come and try your gown on.
Then, the fun can begin as you can try any veils, tiara and accessories you may choose to compliment your gown.
You will then sign a dress release form to confirm your dress is in perfect condition before it is then passed on to your seamstress.
When is my final balance due?
Gowns are to be paid for in full within 14 days of arriving at our boutique.
Will my gown need altering?
We take measurements of your bust, waist and hip’s to give us an indication of what size to order for you. We then place these measurements against your designers size chart to ascertain the best size for yourself. Our gowns are not made to measure unless specified in writing to yourselves at the time of ordering.
Ultimately the final decision on size is yours! Our gowns arrive in standard sizes and are cut to a size chart unless otherwise specified. This means alterations will most likely need to take place to ensure you to get that perfect fit!
The seamstresses’ we recommend, work independently of Lulu Browns and consistently do a fantastic job for all our clients however, big, or small the alteration maybe.
You will be charged for the alteration and not the number of fittings you have, providing you are not changing shape when the alterations are taking place.
When you come for your fittings, you must remember to bring the shoes and underwear you will be wearing on the wedding day. The fitting cannot be carried out without these items as they will alter the fit of the gown.
Do I pay Lulu Browns for my alterations?
As the seamstresses work independently of Lulu Browns you enter into a separate contract with them. They will quote you for any alterations that may need doing and you then pay them direct when the alteration is complete.
Please note that Lulu Browns cannot be held responsible for the condition of your gown once our release form has been signed before the alteration process begins.
Will I have my fittings in store?
Our shop is available for dress fittings during the weekdays and evenings by prior appointment, if you choose to use our recommended seamstresses.
Your dress fittings are a most important time and a high level of concentration is needed to alter a wedding gown. We are a very busy shop and experience high volumes of people especially at the weekends. For this reason we cannot offer a fitting service on a Saturday, as we cannot guarantee you the privacy and space you most defiantly need.
